We tried our best to rectify the exhaust misalignment using our incredible (sorry, I mean mediocre) welding skills, but seeing as we wanted all the intake piping re-done properly anyways; we conceded to just take the car to someone to fix the lot.
The intake piping should all take a similar route to before, but with more consistent material, diameter, less joins and new fasters & silicone joints.
We’re especially looking forward to the new exhaust route, which, using the existing dump pipe, should now head outboard of the passenger side chassis rail before leaving the engine bay. This will then allow it to head down the side of the car and then dump out about 3/4s of the way to the left rear tyre. Ultimately we want the chassis rails to be the lowest part of the car, with a complete under-tray (yet to be built) to mount to them. Once complete, the exhaust (probably about 3 – 3.5″ diameter) will need to be flattened (oval shape or rounded rectangle) in the horizontal section to fit between the under-tray and the floor.
