Let the stripping begin…

Short of acid-dipping, the cheapest way to make the car quicker will invariably be to remove unnecessary weight. Screw the cosmetics and luxuries – anything that doesn’t help the car turn, stop or go will in-fact do the opposite – impeding all three of those capabilities, simply by having additional mass attached to the car. The only question is, what do you really need to keep?

We started by removing the obvious stuff where the most gains can be found with the least effort:

Air Conditioning system, Rear Seats, Spare Wheel, Interior linings etc.

The side skirts we found to be really flimsy and the rear wing just seemed pointless; like the side skirts, once we think downforce and drag need attention we’ll look at replacing these items properly with measurable results.

We didn’t remove all of the climate control system (just most of the ducting and vents etc) as we still wanted to have ventilation and de-misting for the front window.
